During the Covid19 Pandemic of 2020/21 the country was effectively locked down for several months to reduce the spread of the disease. Being unable to travel, I took the opportunity to create a studio in which to remain productive with my photography. Here are just a few examples of those images

‘Soft Landings’ was created in my Studio during the Covid 19 Lockdown. For this photograph I selected a couple of dandelion seed heads. I then mounted one in some ‘blu tack’, plucked some seeds from another, carefully separated and placed them in my hand. With the other hand operating the remote I tripped the camera shutter and released the seeds. I used a remote Nikon Speedlight (SB900) to illuminate the scene which was placed below and to the left in order to balance the light coming through the window. A black backdrop completed the photo, plus some very minor tweaks in Photoshop.

Goldfinch on Blackthorn (during lockdown)

Birds are most active soon after sunrise when they need to top up with calories from the previous night. It was easy to set the scene in my garden hide and wait to see what happens. By placing this attractive ‘perch’ close to the feeder and with some patience I got this image. Background is all important and to obtain an uncluttered image I used an aperture of f5.6. with a backdrop of trees in the distance.
