<image:caption>‘Soft Landings’ was created in my Studio during the Covid 19 Lockdown. For this photograph I selected a couple of dandelion seed heads. I then mounted one in some ‘blu tack’, plucked some seeds from another, carefully separated and placed them in my hand. With the other hand operating the remote I tripped the camera shutter and released the seeds. I used a remote Nikon Speedlight (SB900) to illuminate the scene which was placed below and to the left in order to balance the light coming through the window. A black backdrop completed the photo, plus some very minor tweaks in Photoshop. Nikon D750, iso100, f32, 1/125 second, remote fill flash. (Manual)</image:caption>

<image:caption>Goldfinch on Blackthorn (during lockdown) Birds are most active soon after sunrise when they need to top up with calories from the previous night. It was easy to set the scene in my garden hide and wait to see what happens. By placing this attractive ‘perch’ close to the feeder and with some patience I got this image. Background is all important and to obtain an uncluttered image I used an aperture of f5.6. with a backdrop of trees in the distance. Nikon D500, Nikon 70-200 f2.8 with 1.4 teleconverter, iso 1000, f5, 1/640 second, beanbag. (Manual)</image:caption>

<image:caption>I had been observing the local Kestral's for a while and eventually the young emerged. This is a juvenile as we can see the remains of down in the plumage. At this age and similar to other wildlife they are highly vulnerable, and show little signs of fear. With a lot of patience, I was able to approach to within a few metres. Within a week of taking this photo, fortunately, they were a lot more wary, just like their parents.</image:caption>

I observed these deer whilst placing a trail cam to monitor Badgers and thought they may still be around the following morning, I was in position well before sunrise when they emerged from the field margin into perfect golden light. A fabulous encounter!</image:caption>
